Dear bowling friends, guests and members of the Organizing Committee,
A warm welcome to all of you to the 27th European Senior Bowlers Championships in Vienna, Austria.
It is the third time that Vienna is hosting the ESB Championships. The first time was in 2002 and the second time was in 2010. Everyone knows that Vienna is the capital and the largest city of Austria, with over 2 million inhabitants. A city that hosts many international organzations, including the OPEC and the United Nations. Apart from being regarded as the City of Music because of its musical legacy, Vienna is also said to be „The City of Dreams“ because it was home to the world’s first psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud. The historic centre of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque castles and gardes, and the late 19th-century Ringstraße lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks. There are lots of places to visit when you are not bowling.
During these championships there are going to be three bowlingalleys: Cumberland Sportcenter, Kugeltanz Prater and the Plus Bowlingcenter.
On these website you will find all updates for the events, schedules and results during the ESBC.
This year the organizing committee had lots of problems, with hotels that raised the rates, a bowlingcenter that was not available after all due to technical problems. Deadlines had to be postponed and the information to all the countries has never been this late in the existence of ESBC.
The ESBC presidium is convinced that everyone involved in the organization of these European Championships will do thier most to make this edition a success and that all of you can enjoy a nice time in Vienna.
Wie hope you will visit the 27th European Senior Bowlers Championships in good health, will have a magnificent time and high scores and are looking forward to meet you all.
Lia Fievet, President ESBC
